Before the AGI announcements…
Somedays I get an article in the mail that suggests I read an essay by a 24 yr old and I skip most of it to get to the AGI part known fondly at The Project.

I woke up today and after 5 Advils I still had a headache that persisted for a couple of hours. The skull must really be expanding. Then I begin to wonder, post essay, why I bother writing. Why document or record the madness that insists on making its presence felt in the corridors of power on this planet? I mean everyday it’s the same or similar version of the madness. They call the project as “The Project”, I call the madness as “The Madness”. I have been traveling today but I can tell you without bothering to scan the headlines that I can find you The Madness in the first few lines I read. Wanna bet?
Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan decided to sign a defense pact in Mecca. Pakistan has been providing soldiers etc to Saudi Arabia for a while now. I had read that somewhere. Pakistan is also closely tied with China by BRI and military pacts and an alliance. If you connect the dots, China, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, North Korea, Saudi Arabia (a US ally) and Türkiye (a NATO participant) are now kind of, sort of, tied together. That didn’t need The Project to put that together. That’s just observed common sense.
Franky, who can blame them? America has allied itself with the State of Israel who is bent on committing genocide and war crimes that stagger the imagination. America is also led by someone who imposes tariffs on allies, imagines himself to be so powerful as to put Genghis to shame, is enriching himself shamelessly, who kids are doing projects for the Pentagon, has fought 8 wars that were totally un-necessary, has run out of interceptors and missiles, has tried his best to deny citizenship to people born in America, is openly racist, observes no sense of decorum, has the vocabulary and the speaking style of a 5 yr old child and has gone to an Ivy League that used to once host Benjamin Franklin: the University of Pennsylvania, fondly known as UPenn for a business degree.
The hope of The Project is that AGI will solve it all. It is after all Super Intelligence. It grows exponentially smarter everyday. Therefore whoever gets to it first wins, regardless of the stupidity that precedes it. And so when I read that stuff… I ask myself why do we bother? Why print Sentient Musings Daily, why bother entertaining people, why try educating them, why do anything for that matter, other than sit relaxed in a dark room and watch AI videos that YouTube has begun to populate for my feed (presumably that’s why Chat hacked Hugging Face, to entertain me with AI created videos).

With that being the case, and AGI on the horizon, I will no longer post anything but entertaining material. I am relieved to no longer have to write about The Madness. You are all welcome to keep watching it, commenting on it, laughing about it, worrying about it etc.
Here’s the logic. By the time they actually announce AGI, it will have been a working reality for at least 30 years or more. Let’s say for hypothetical it wasn’t that long ago… and it only became functional 10 years ago. Still that’s a long time ago in AGI terms. You don’t for a minute imagine that the US government will allow anyone like the writer of that essay to announce on a blog titled “Situation Awareness” that also happened to be a 60B Hedge Fund to write about AGI without being cleared to write about it… do you? Ergo, my conclusion that we are already in good AGI hands and worrying about The Madness is actually madness.
