Front page bigotry

Sometimes I wake up and thoughts come to me and they sound somewhat childish. As if the kids of a cryptologist or a cipher fanatic somehow got access to my mind. Here’s one.
When is Z the same as B?
Duh, when it’s in simple cipher. (B does look like 2 or Z).
Is there where the word “busy” comes from? (BZ get it?)

What? That’s how I wake up. Residues of residues from other people’s minds. Then in order to regain my sense of self I am asked to drink some coffee and read something. So I open the newspapers and I probably really ought to start with the FT. When I start with The Times, it almost always is a stark juxtaposition of hatred, bigotry and all manner of other diseases.

The ad appeared later. That’s the AI making a “trickle down” economics joke with the Tiffany logo. That’s what I needed to see on the front page, Singapore’s black bartender. There is nothing wrong with bartending and if it was an Asian bartender I probably would not have noticed. It fits with Singapore. It doesn’t jar the senses. But they put the Asian figure under “risky” and “dangerous”.

Or maybe it’s just me. I wake up from other people’s thoughts and residues. Possibly their sensitivities and biases. The Asian person has “Extreme Caution” on top of her, “Fraud” to the left of her, “Gut Clear Car Rules” also on the left bottom, “Excludes” to the right. These are not neutral words, and news doesn’t need to be neutral. In fact the US Constitution is not neutral, it’s an explicit document about what the Government cannot do. There are very few sentences about what the government can do. Or ought to do. Imagine living that way. These are the sets of things you cannot do. Anything else that this document does not explicitly cover, you can do. That brings me to the weed article.

I am guessing “Warren Street” is a replacement for “Main Street” Americana.

Above the weed article is Mary. And someone in the bowels of the Times is responding to what I wrote the other day: “we have no idea where these politicians emerge from, they suddenly appear one day with a full biography and track record” and here is the introduction, here’s how it happens. A person, previously unknown to the rest of the world, is introduced. Mary had a bumpy ride, is probably not offensive to Catholics. Then again, the Catholics are used to this sort of stuff with Madonna and the Boys Town scandal in Omaha. At least Mary’s isn’t riding an elevator down.
