Oops. Wrong Desert.
“Making the desert bloom” is a Zionist slogan and national narrative describing Israel’s transformation of arid landscapes, especially the Negev, into productive agricultural land through settlement, technology, and policy Wikipedia.
Origins and Ideology
The phrase has been used since at least the 1950s, with Prime Minister David Ben‑Gurion calling it one of Israel’s central goals: “making the wilderness bloom” Wikipedia. It reflects a belief that the land was once “empty desert” and that Israeli settlement and development “redeemed” it MintPress News. Historically, the Levant had a long tradition of agriculture, and Palestinian farms before 1948 were among the most productive in the region MintPress News+1.
FWIW, if President Putin were to offer the 2M residents of Gaza a sanctuary in Russia he would be declared a peacemaker for a very long time in human history. Russia has an enormous amount of land and very few people per square mile. The problem of course….is when you’re bombing Kyiv offering peace in Gaza is sort of like…. MEATBALLS!
Florido means “Blooming” …. who knew.
Thank you President Trump.
Deserts blooming in the wrong places, Sandu dying…. it’s all a bit scattered. There are protests in Spain after parliament votes for landlordism and by school children in France. Latvia has Russian political parties on the rise while Estonia is training children to operate drones.

The Wall Street Journal's reports on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, concerning Kimberly Guilfoyle, the US ambassador to Greece, have elicited strong reactions in both Bucharest and Athens. The American daily newspaper detailed how the diplomat allegedly pressured Balkan leaders to purchase more American liquefied natural gas (LNG). The WSJ described a dinner in March during which Guilfoyle was said to have had a confrontation with the Greek energy minister, Stavros Papastavrou. While the WSJ did not specify the reason, the ambassador reportedly mentioned the imminent fall of the Romanian government and said, "We can do that to any country we want. We can do it here." Papastavrou is said to have replied that the US could not replace the democratically elected Greek government. Guilfoyle's lawyer has disputed this account, but that was not enough to put an end to the ensuing debate.
In other news, I had not until very recently figured out that Oracle, Apple and Google all have their names ending in ‘le’.
Like Le Monde whose website address is almost a “lemonade” but with an ‘a’ removed.
