Mitigation and Adaptation: A Brit deals with Climate Change.

Interviewer: I mean, it sounds like a fairly bleak future. What do you think Mainland Europe and Britain is going to look like as the Climate does get dry? What is going to have to change, about the we that we ‘prepare’ for this kind of thing, the way that we ‘set out’ our countryside, and and what we have to learn as citizens in order to protect ourselves and our families?
Fire Marshall: Well, the, it is going to get worse, almost certainly. Um and that goes for a number of natural disasters, flooding and so on will also increase. Um, and its around adaptation and mitigation. So, there are things we can do to mitigate the risk, but knowing that this is going to be a part of our future, we need to adapt. We need to change our agricultural practices. Uh, as civilians we need to change the way we live our lives and and use recreation and so on. So, lots of things we can do. Um, it’s not a disaster. uh um but we will need to change the way we behave, and changing of human behaviors can take a little time.

All I can do, sitting in a tiny office, thumping the desk without waving my arms wildly is if countries have plans… surely you must have plans… for a climate crisis then you must not delay. You must implement them now. I keep expecting military general types in uniform, in a room, planning the invasion of dirty energy with the same fervor they planned D-Day.

Instead most likely our chubby leader Kim Jong is planning on meeting (movie) —> Netanyahu tomorrow (actual) —> (movie) to discuss a ground invasion or a bombing campaign of Iran. At some point, some general will have to say… Sir… if you don’t mind the problems at home are a bit more… pressing? Chubby Leader: Why didn’t you tell me before? How can I make decisions if no one tells me? No this is not because of climate. That stuff is still a hoax. Just send them guys… fix the bloody mess. General: Sir, you totally trashed FEMA. We have no guys. Trump: Well tell them to call other states. Send in the home guard. Send in the military. Is that it? See I solved it. Genius, yep that’s me. Now where are we on Iran? (checks oil price on phone).

The difference between what I expect and what probably happens has never been more of a gulf.
