The Ghost of America Online.

Sometimes I feel like billions are raised and spent simply to entertain me. It would be easy to dismiss this as a case of apophenia because it probably is. Yet it happens way more than it legitimately should. Although legitimacy is a question of birth in this nation of ours. Some people claim legitimacy by when their European ancestors arrived on this continent. Presumably the Sioux don’t. No my baby is not a Chippawa and is neither kind nor one of a kind.

Take the case of a company called Bending Spoons. Two specific links to me: an ice-cream store I frequented named The Bent Spoon and Michael Fassbender as one of the best but underrated actors in Hollywood. Bending Spoons is a company that raises the dead. Its business model seems to be quite simple. Hire attractive young people with a lot of energy, buy dead or dying apps and resurrect them. Voila. They went public at a 23B valuation and one of their holdings is the alive, dead, alive again AOL also known as America Online. I doubt Sleepless in Seattle is worth that much although it probably should be.

Homelessness is a particular pet grievance of mine. America is an enormous country and you don’t realize how big it actually is until you try to drive it from end to end. I have only done the East Coast up and down trip from Maine to Florida. I’ve done parts of the California coast and parts of Washington State. I have never driven from Oregon to Florida or San Diego to Montepelier in Vermont. Or from San Diego to Miami. Or La Push, Washington to Frenchville, Maine. You know the T-shirts are coming right? We’re still at 18 users but the blue seems to be spreading. Canada is a lighter shade of bleu. A few other countries are just dark gray. I couldn’t identify Romania on a map until now. I thought it was Iran.

Back to the text, homelessness. It’s a stigma on American society, it’s people and our civilization. And for what? We could have used the funds spent in the Iran War that I have documented in the prior post to put it to rest in half the country. Almost half the country, it depends on who does the accounting. And it’s only 4 or 5 months of war. Imagine what will happen if it continues.

Anyway, AOL wanted to make me aware of another homeless person who was littering the Tonto National Forest. Mark Aaron Gatz of Arizona was caught and arrested for living in a National Forest with half-ton of trash. And creating campfires during no fire season.

Never thought I’d be linking an AOL site in 2026. The article then went on to discuss this:

Washington, D.C. | August 23, 2023 – The National Coalition for Housing Justice (NCHJ) calls on the Biden-Harris administration to stop using federal police to respond to homelessness. In May of this year, undercover U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management police officers violently arrested Judy, Timber, and Brooks Roberts for living in a camper in the Payette National Forest north of Boise, Idaho. They were forced to live in the park after their landlord evicted them and they couldn’t find available space in shelters.

Shocking body-cam video shared in a court filing today shows agents making false claims to lure the family outside, firing multiple gunshots at Brooks Roberts while he was in a wheelchair, hitting him in the back and continuing to shoot at him while he lay on the ground. Judy and Brooks are disabled and their disabilities were visible to agents. Due to the gunshot injuries, Brooks has been hospitalized for more than two months, and faces a lifetime of paralysis from the chest down and limited use of his right arm. The agents involved remain on duty. This case is just one example of an ongoing pattern of increasing violence against unhoused people at the hands of federal agents. In February, NCHJ called on U.S. Park Service police to halt the forcible removal and arrest of unhoused people from McPherson Square in Washington, D.C. before the people in the encampment could be placed in housing. The federal government failed to put policies in place to stop encampment raids, and as a result, residents in McPherson Square were arrested, displaced, and disconnected from service providers who could help connect them to safe and secure homes.

It’s easy to divide a country into red and blue. The blue doesn’t want homelessness but also doesn’t want law enforcement. The red doesn’t care about homelessness but is strict on law enforcement. Those are the only two options when it comes to homelessness, you see. Pick one and carry on.

Monsieur, it’s me. Pierre. Or Moliere. Whatever you wish to call me. I told you this before, it’s your water Monsieur. C’est ton eau! Both sides are the same. They are the System Monsieur. If you keep being shocked by the violence that both sides exhibit how can you learn?

We could solve homelessness once and for all. Truly we could. There is a deep wealth of expertise, experience and social workers who is in the trenches of Marne who have faced the worst and survived. Here’s the problem though. You have to know who not to trust and who should be trusted before they speak. Here’s an example:

That’s just communism man. These people are communist! They are not even socialist! They are out and out communists. They just want to give away free stuff and bring in thousands and millions of immigrants who will take your jobs. These people want to destroy America. You cannot give them a penny. You must not vote for them.

OR

Look at what this Administration has done. Do you regret not voting for Kamala? Well elections are here again. You will have a chance again America. We must get back our country. This cannot be allowed to succeed. These people are fascists. We are facing total loss of freedom and fascism.

You see Monsieur? Both sides will tell you their story but if you examine that story from AOL you will see that the Biden Administration also used force just as the Trump Administration is using force. Both use violence. That is the language of the System. That is why Monsieur you must not get arrested and you must not protest violently.
We can take back this country but with a wink, a nod, a high-five and a hoodie that most people won't understand. Like a Red Robin (a burger restaurant) but a bird on a hoodie signifying the legend of Robinhood. You can visualize it yes? I once saw a Red Robin in the snow perched on a tree that has small red berries. If you wear that, you will be making a statement Monsieur. And when that girl sees you at the bar… well you an imagine it yes? We can have fun. That is what we French believe in… hedonism but with the right people. Or the wrong people. And in moderation.

The camo squirrel shall have to wait. We can make living affordable with low rents and we can have house like in Abruzzo, Italy for 13K fully paid. Imagine living in America and never having to worry about a place to live. Ever.
Vienna has 60% government owned housing and it’s mostly upper class luxury apartments.
