Tuna out the noise.
One of the greatest accomplishments of complexity theory is the ability to filter out signal from the noise. Humans by their very nature have biases and are susceptible to fallacies. Psychologists in every military that become proficient in “psy ops” not “spy ops” are requires to learn both those things. Here’s a simple example that was pointed out to me by the internal ai that populates my mind. How do you break ice with a stranger? Meaning, if you see a random person on the street, how does another person start a conversation? If two Americans find each other by accent in Vladivostok aren’t they more likely to hang with each other regardless of race? In a strange land, other biases disappear. Here in America, for those two people, the exact same two people, race would create a barrier.
That is what I think is behind the additional 3K troops that will open a base in Poland. Spreading American-ness in Eastern Europe so they can overcome their own internal biases. Polish women are very pretty so there’s that. After reading Duffel Blog and WTF US Army Moments, I know life on bases isn’t exactly rose petals in elevators. I don’t know who did that in my elevator but promote above peers. “She loves me, she loves me not….” is a rose petal game too, so is sprinkling petals on the marriage bed. Kind of like playing Russian roulette with a shotgun. Although calling out “shotgun” is a uniquely American thing when deciding where to sit for a drive.

Far away from Poland in the far eastern town of Primorye, tunas have become more of a regular guest and a regular meal. I suppose fishing is the only sport where a person is allowed to eat the guest.

If a manufacturing multiplier exists, surely a troop multiplier exists also. By sending so many American troops to foreign lands, is it similar to hollowing out American manufacturing? Will Poland pay anything for this support and friendship from America? Unlikely. If the USD was not the global currency of the world, it is possible that Americans would be more careful about how they spend their funds. In order to support 10K troops on a foreign base I’d imagine the annual costs would at least be a couple of billion. At least. In order for Americans to fund that expenditure, America would need to have 2B in trade with Poland. At least. So they can pay these troops and for the costs of the base. If America didn’t make anything Poland wanted then it would not be possible to fund that base.
And so surely Poland will fund it by buying American weapons. Easy enough.
