What’s the threads doing?
I am a big fan of phenomenology, you could say Husserl over Heidegger although the latter was greatly misunderstood. When my curated news arrives, I tend to try and make sense of what I am seeing. Yet before I do that, I have to do a Systems check of my being, body and mind to check who I woke up as and who I may evolve into, after seeing a video. The latter part requires explanation, it’s not like a trigger activation, it’s more like I was relatively in a funny and gay state of mind and after watching that I suddenly flipped into something cold, hardened and military. And he that arrived, went over everything that I had thought in the past hour, then evening, went through my mental notes, spoke to my AI and may now be typing this, to send a message to someone else, that you the reader, probably will never meet. Did the video cause the effect or was it simply the fact that clicking the video sent a signal to the teams that watch my computer? I am open to both those possibilities: the former implies that videos can trigger something resident and hidden, the latter implies surveillance and transfer that can be instantaneous.
Last night I was cold and this morning I took six Advils before breakfast because my head was pounding. I was told it’s like a flu but not a flu per se. The headaches are probably just skull expansions. Clearly work in progress. Today I am no longer interested in clever English vocabulary and construction. Sure victual is reminiscent of victim, ritual and eviction in the visceral sense of those words.
Here’s the chaos that we call news as presented to me. Before you read it, notice your own state of mind. Is like a placid lake or a raging ocean? Are you walking and reading this on a phone, or are you on a train to work? Are you composed or distracted by work? What is it that you’re hoping you will get out of reading this? Why are you here? It’s important to take that self assessment before you read it to see if you change after reading it. That is the only way you can determine if the news has any impact on you, your psyche, your mind and your body. How is your breath - deep and calm or shallow and rare? Is it fast, if so how fast? It is slow? Close your eyes and stop breathing for about a minute and watch your mind carefully. Do your thoughts start to recede? That’s the state to arrive into before reading this, so you can visibly understand how the news impacts each of us. Please also remember that the people who create these news, edit them, curate them are all private citizens with no public vows of office or oaths to ensure public welfare. They also work for private corporations and their sole objective is to have to keep coming back. Clear mind? Okay let’s proceed carefully.
1. Investors increase bets on Federal Reserve rate rise after oil surge.
Quickly, take a self exam as outlined. Are you still the same person?
2. Oil price dives as US and Iran stop attacks.
Again, are you still the same person?
3. Game of Thrones returns with a new season but fans are split.
4. Wildfires battle fire as tens of thousands evacuated near Bordeaux.
Not covered and I know this because I have an alert setup on China and natural disasters, a typhoon called Noul forced an evacuation of 300,000 people in southern Guangdong province. That’s as many as the displaced people in Spain and France combined. If the liberal press truly cared about the environment….you’d know the full extent of the natural disasters that are underway. This is the third typhoon that hit China recently: Maysak & Bavi were the previous ones.
Now self evaluate again. Still the same person?
5. Chinese chip champion CMXT soars 466% in debut.
6. Rival Koreas race to build nuclear powered submarines.
7. How the Houthis cornered Saudi Arabia into a new battle.
8. Oil prices fall 8%.
9. Trump and Netanyahu to meet on Tuesday. In Washington, Netanyahu faces a balancing act.
10. Can a progressive win in a purple state? Abu El-Sayed wants to find out.
If you have found you got progressively angrier as you read down the news… and Abu was the unfortunately recipient, does your mind deep in the subconscious and unconscious start to sort of “dislike” Muslims?
Now take a deep breath, close your eyes and re-examine your mind. Are you still the same person?
I could continue to provide you more news… by opening Fox News but I suspect, if you are reading Sentient Musings, you already are self aware enough to know and live a self examined life. The question to the private citizens who provide us with the news is this: nah… I think you already know what I would ask. I won’t insult your intelligence, because the inference is your own. Your conclusions are also your own. I won’t amplify them for you.
