Diet of the Living.
I chose that title with care. I suspect the word diet originates from the word “die” because it often implies that some living beings must die so I might live.
It’s a much more interesting word than my initial attempt suggests. PIE root ai-: “to give, allot” that is perhaps in direct contrast to both diainysthai and ainysthai that mean to “take apart” or to “take”. For those of you who believe in coincidence you’ll also note the occurrence of “thai” and “ny” and “dia”. Take apart might be related if you think of “breaking bread together” like people do at Italian restaurants with their bare hands with a smear of fresh olive oil and some muzzarell. What? That’s how its pronounced man, fuh.
It’s somehow related to a way of life, to lead one’s life, parliamentary assembly and to separate and select.
I have recently started to choose living foods. Or rather foods that are closer to what is considered to be “being alive” rather than “dead food”. Example: quinoa seeds. mung bean sprouts, chia seeds all require water but are almost instantly edible or with a little bit of patience edible. None of them have that Nagaland, had to kill a pig feeling to it.
Some interesting combinations that are completely heal-thy.
1. Sprouted mung beans + pico de gallo + corn chile + cowboy salsa + chips.
2. Guacamole smashed into paste + salt + garlic + lemon with chips.
3. Eggs scrambled + lost you huh + Asparagus lightly boiled + raw bell peppers + blueberries + pear + cheese + small slice of bread or taco.
4. Blueberries or blackberries + pear + apple + tomato all raw.
5. Lightly boiled broccoli + lightly boiled cauliflower + lightly boiled asparagus + small amount of rice with virgin coconut oil.
6. Lightly boiled quinoa + cowboy salsa (cheese optional).
7. Margharita pizza from Italy + bell peppers + spinach + asparagus (all on the pizza) at 425 degrees in oven for 12 minutes.
I mean you get the idea. They all sound delicious to me.
No need to separate pigs from their sisters or mothers, chicks from their hens, calves from their cows and so on.
If you need protein: there are pea powders, protein pancakes, whey protein and other options although the beans and sprouts will generate a lot of protein. I thrive on this stuff. Not sure why I ate so much chicken and meat. Then again, the doctors had asked me to. Something about entire body rearrangement. Maybe that phase is winding down. I am allowed to eat this stuff again.
