Qualifications.

I’ve tried in vain to apply for jobs after I shut down the company VedAlgo Inc. I’ve been a recruiter for most of my professional life. I’d like to think that I understand what a job is. I won’t discuss the types of jobs as a way to prove my credentials. Each job requires a set of qualifications — that a successful applicant — needs to fill. None of that is abstruse, abstract or fundamentally vague. Here’s a job, those are the qualifications. It doesn’t get much more clear than that.

I just completed a video and at the end I sort of surprised myself by asking a tougher set of questions. I’ve been letting the environment do the talking and for the most part avoiding the fractiousness of what we call our daily lives. I’ll post the video at the end. The questions are these:

1. Is there a relationship between the environment and the mind? Why do some environments provide relief from stress? Take a koi pond on a lovely San Diego evening. I am certain there is a relationship. I think this will be acknowledged by everyone who has felt the “city energy” and the “energy of a calm, scenic lake”. If the relationship between our mental well being and the environment is so clear cut then why don’t we create such places everywhere? What stops us?

2. There is a relationship between the air and our lungs. We breathe the air. Why then do we allow the air to be polluted if there are options available?

3. Trees produce oxygen while absorbing carbon dioxide. Why then do we allow trees to be chopped down without at the very least being replaced by a large number of trees to account for the time difference?

4. I didn’t ask this question but this is also obvious. We eat food. We drink water. Our body and mind’s health depend on it. Neither of those two should be polluted or have chemicals in them. Yet we do it constantly. Why do we allow it?

The question is one of stewardship. There is enough blame to go around. We can blame the System if you wish. Yet the four or five examples above are clearcut. There is no ambiguity. The people who are in charge of the System cannot take care of their own selves then how are they qualified to take care of others?

That becomes a non ambiguous question of qualifications. It’s simply a use of logic. There is no reasoning, no inference involved. We demand that the questions in the video must be answered.
