Squarespace will be writing the news today. Admit it: you’ve all become FBI post-mortem analysts as you read the headlines. You land on a news site and, with the brisk efficiency of a microwave burrito, you scan, categorize, and infer. The who, the how, the ripple effects—instantly mapped in mental ink. You know the weapon, the motive, the breadcrumbs left by the perpetrator and the PR team. You can trace the channels and grooves of influence like tire tracks across a wet parking lot. And then you sit there, uniquely powerless to change a single thing.

Some of you read the news like an intelligence bulletin—decoding what an agency, a corporation, or a committee wants you to believe. You parse omissions as aggressively as declarations. You annotate narratives in the margins of your mind. The rest of you come for the defragmentation—the tidy arrangement of chaos—and leave with a date on your calendar: an event to watch, a rumor to test, a dinner conversation starter.

We admit this, unironically: there is a guilty thrill to feeling like a civilian sleuth. There is also the quiet, nagging realization that insight rarely equals power. Knowing the blueprint of a narrative doesn’t mean you can stop the construction crew from building it.

So here’s the curation: a small, deliberately odd bouquet of observations and provocations. We’ll present the angles, the likely players, the probable ripples. We won’t peddle certainty—only plausible readings and that delicious cognitive dissonance that follows a good pattern-spotting binge.

Seriously, is there a geologist out there you wouldn’t get along with? Didn’t think so. Now about that map: what’s with the blue zones? And the white spaces — mystery or meaning? My best guess is those blues mark flood-prone areas and the white shows no data or low risk. Maybe the USGS is slipping in flood alerts too.

Why the flood hunch? Super El Niño projections have been waving big red flags about coastal flooding — Florida and California look especially vulnerable. Just a cautious tip-of-the-hat to Mother Nature’s mood swings.

You jumped from earthquakes and floods to Ukraine and drones? Why the abrupt pivot? Why not — newspapers do it all the time. You’re supposed to follow the thread. Don’t you get the threads? Surely you’re not that daft. Of course you get them.

Bromo? It’s like Bro and Romeo, right? Kind of playful and a little dramatic at once, with a wink. Is it anywhere near Borneo? You spot East Java on the map and your brain immediately craves strong coffee and a hearty breakfast. Be honest—your mouth’s already watering, isn’t it? Meh the earth’s burning. What else is new? The fires have reached Indonesia. I bet I can’t find Indonesia on a map. It’s near Bangkok right?

Wait, what? You jumped from weather to flying cars? Can I invest in CATL? Is that the new Chinese battery company? If it’s from China you know it will succeed. Can I tell you a secret? When I feel depressed by American news I go to the South China Morning Post. At least one country seems to have a plan, and that comforts me. Does that make me unpatriotic? Sure, I know the news is curated there and heavily skewed to highlight only great things about China. Even after I put on that filter, it still appears like they have a general outline of a plan and a direction they’re following.

Apparently Beijing is watching this so carefully that the story was pushed far down the list, buried beneath triumphant headlines about flying car breakthroughs and CATL’s latest triumphs. And the headline itself stubbornly omits a crucial detail: it doesn’t say how many people have been ordered to evacuate.

This is the Belt and Road, right? Yep — looks like it. One way to cozy up to neighbors: build a canal. The other: send in C.I.A. Ground Branch and SOCOM raids to topple a leader. Somehow a waterway feels more permanent — and friendlier.

As an American, how am I supposed to feel about this? On one side, we have pharmaceutical giants like Merck, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly, Bristol-Myers Squibb — and across the pond, Novo Nordisk and Novartis. In ten years, those familiar names may be joined by, or even replaced with, Chinese firms, and everyone will act surprised. China’s talking the same game about airplanes versus Boeing and Airbus, and they’ve already made huge inroads in the global EV market.

But let’s be honest: drug companies serve the sick-care industry, not true health. They create jobs — that’s real — but do they actually deliver health? Chinese entrants won’t magically change that. So where does that leave us? Different logos on the pill bottles, same system. Net-net: a shift in ownership and headlines, but not necessarily in the fundamental nature of how we treat illness.

Right… El Salvador is back in the news again. I can almost guarantee there’ll soon be another headline about some country sending their migrants to El Salvador. Meanwhile, Trump’s personal attorney, Todd Blanche, has just been confirmed by the US Senate to lead the Department of Justice. So what does that mean — is the Senate compromised? Do its members still represent the American people? And in the end, does any of that really matter?

Haitian immigrants I read in a San Diego local paper, are scared to go shopping.

What did I tell you earlier? Had a gut feeling. It’s all just mass psychological manipulation. I hope you guys can see the thread and the fear. The idea is this could happen to you and so do not criticize anyone. Keep your mouths shut and accept the System as it is.

The only paper whose headlines made sense but didn’t cover the real story… Climate Change. They covered important stories, they are thematic and a quick glance does provide an idea of the world as it is… yet…

The Bloomberg “Code” usually is when hands pick up something that is a trend… here I suspect they are indicating that US dollars are going to trend higher. Again, this is not proven, there is no proof of this… don’t make bets on what you read here. If you lose money, it’s your own silliness.

I am guessing this is also a currency market code of some sort. When combined with the Bloomberg article it probably may be a message? I don’t know. And since I don’t know I can’t make predictions about the trajectory of the USD against the Yen, Euro or any other crosses.
