What the body language conveys in pictures.
We used to call movies, “pictures”. That was an intense Bruce Lee picture or a Charles Bronson picture. Much later, here in America I learned the term was movies. A lot of names in America end with the ‘ie’. A movie scene begins with the director saying “Cut….” and then ending with the director saying “and action….”
What? That makes it more real. On the set at least.
It’s a shame that the world has abandoned movie making to three countries that are well known: Chinawood, Hollywood and Bollywood. Films are called ‘electric shadows’ 电影 pronounced as ‘pinying’ in Chinawood. Films can shape the psyche, that is well known to psychologists worldwide. Name the countries that are seen positively by Hollywood. Very few right? Why is that? What is the net effect of watching Hollywood movies to procure a perspective of the world? There is truth to what the Chinese are suggesting: go to China to see China, don’t rely on Hollywood or as they call it ‘second hand impressions’. The Chinese are always so polite. That’s why these YouTube videos regardless of what they try to "‘sell you” in terms of overt impressions are pretty interesting. If you blank out the sounds of the speaker trying to sell you something and turn off the subtitles then you can see the common average people walking around whether its in Shangning or elsewhere. Chinawood presumably doesn’t convey a correct impression of China either. It’s simply a medium for those in power to tell the world what they wish to convey.
By abandoning film making to three countries, the other countries simply don’t stand a chance. Their point of view simply doesn’t filter into residual impressions the way these three countries do. When was the last time an American watched a Saudi movie or an Iranian movie? And if an American cannot see these people as having love lives or see them as comedic figures, then the only shape they can take is that of a terrorist who is ready to martyr themselves. American writers who began books with a line about Ishmael are long gone.
Asians are then reduced to Crazy, Rich while the average American thinks of them as ‘nerds’ or ‘spies’. America might have an entire military focus on the Pacific, hey Paccom, but they can’t differentiate between Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, Malaysian and other countries simply by looking at their faces. Be honest, can even long time Asia deployed veterans — can you? Yet they’re willing to fight and die over Taiwan. lol
The world should know how the average American Marine or Seal or anyone else sees the world. Their views are shaped by Hollywood. (I am guessing but it’s probably true). And these are the same people who go around the world doing ‘black ops’ killing people even without being able to tell what race or country they’re from. Isn’t that ridiculous? I think that’s ridicule worthy yet unfortunate. An 18 yr old Marine is recruited from the countryside where they’ve grown up mainly amongst white people or among black people (almost never both) and then they are brought to a base, where other people tear apart their mind and world and then rebuild them into killing machines. There is nothing wrong with killing an enemy — full disclosure. That’s how country’s defend themselves or else we will all be Tibetians. Yet there is something extraordinarily wrong about killing people or hating people without knowing anything about them. That’s how I feel anyway.
